The Phase 1 re-provisioning of the Tuen Mun River (Eastern Bank) Garden and Pet Garden has been completed and the site was handed over to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department on 9 October 2024 for opening to members of the public. It is the first re-provisioned community facility to be completed under the Tuen Mun South Extension (TME) project. The re-provisioned Eastern Bank Garden features brand-new fitness equipment, serving as a great place for nearby residents, especially the elderly, to rest and exercise. The Pet Garden has also become a popular gathering spot for residents to walk their pets since its opening.
The remaining part of the Tuen Mun River (Eastern Bank) Garden and Pet Garden will be re-provisioned after the completion of the TME project, and will be equipped with diverse facilities to provide residents and their pets with a more comprehensive recreational space. Upon completion of the remaining part of the garden, the overall area of the Pet Garden will be similar to that of the original Hoi Wong Road Pet Garden.
To make space for the construction of the new stations and relevant railway facilities for the TME project, some community facilities in the district need to be demolished and re-provisioned. The MTR Corporation adopts the “re-provision before demolition” approach as far as practicable, allowing residents to continue enjoying community facilities while the railway works are underway. More re-provisioned facilities will be completed in the future, and the information will be shared once available.
