Connecting Tuen Mun South (Issue 4)

The “Connecting Tuen Mun South” (Issue 4) is out! In this issue, we have for you:

1. Re-provisioning of Tuen Mun Swimming Pool Enhances Community Facilities
Creating Space for the Full-Scale Construction of A16 Station

  • In tandem with railway development, the Corporation also re-provisions community facilities to enhance residents’ living standards. Leveraging Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology, the project team optimised project planning and completed the re-provisioning work in approximately two years, demonstrating high efficiency and professionalism.

  • The new swimming pool’s facilities cater to residents’ needs, including two all-weather indoor heated pools and four outdoor pools. The number of seats in the indoor spectator stand has nearly doubled to 1,200 seats, and barrier-free facilities have been enhanced.

  • Ahead of the opening of the re-provisioned Tuen Mun Swimming Pool, the MTR Corporation joined hands with the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Highways Department to host visits on 16 February, offering stakeholders a preview of the new pool facilities and exchanging views.

  • With the opening of the new Tuen Mun Swimming Pool, information has been displayed at Tuen Mun and Siu Hong stations on the Tuen Ma Line, as well as relevant Light Rail stops to remind passengers of the location of the new pool and how to get there.

  • After demolition of the original Tuen Mun Swimming Pool, the site will be released to enable the full-scale construction of A16 Station*.

  • In line with the re-provisioning of the Tuen Mun Swimming Pool, the MTR Corporation is preparing for system and signage updates for renaming the Light Rail “Tuen Mun Swimming Pool Stop”, which is near the original pool, to “Hoi Wong Road Stop”. The renaming of the stop is expected to take place in mid-year, with details to be announced when appropriate.

  • Tuen Mun South Extension x Ching Chung Koon – Celebrating the Year of Horse (Click to learn more)

This year, the Tuen Mun South Extension (TME) project once again joined hands with Ching Chung Koon to celebrate Chinese New Year with the community! MTR ambassador “T Chai” teamed up with the lion dance performers and a mini-Tuen Ma Line train parade from Taoist Ching Chung Primary School (Wu King Estate) and Ching Chung Wu King Kindergarten, delivering one of the most vibrant shows ever! The event also featured handwritten Fai Chun and lucky bag giveaways. The TME game booth and the photo-taking corner with T Chai were especially popular, bringing the festive spirit to a joyful peak!

  • Maintaining close communication with local stakeholders

The project team has maintained communications with the community by organising Community and School Liaison Group meetings, providing updates on the latest progress of the TME and engaging stakeholders through site visits to exchange views on the latest temporary traffic arrangements along Wu King Road.
