Connecting Tuen Mun South (Issue 3)

The “Connecting Tuen Mun South” (Issue 3) is out! In this issue, we have for you:

1. Viaduct Construction on Tuen Mun River Commences with Comprehensive Planning to Minimise Impact on the Community

With the temporary working platforms over the Tuen Mun River being built gradually, foundation and pier construction for the railway viaduct of the Tuen Mun South Extension has commenced progressively along the river to lay a solid foundation for the superstructure construction that is expected to start by the end of this year. During the design and construction of the viaduct, the project team strived to minimise the impact of works on the existing railway and the community. The piers adopt a slender design to reduce the required occupation of river space, with their locations bypassing the three existing footbridges and one vehicular bridge across the river. During construction, the temporary working platforms built on the river also occupy minimal river area to maintain unimpeded river flow. A temporary river-crossing access is also being built to provide a direct access route to deliver construction materials to the works sites, which will reduce the burden on road traffic. • “Little Engineers” Paraded in the Community with a Cute Version of a Tuen Ma Line Train

The Tuen Mun Tin Hau Festival on 20 April is an annual local event. This year, the TME team collaborated with YCH Ho Sik Nam Primary School to make its debut in the Tin Hau Festival Parade, manifesting the essence of “Learning through Playing, Playing through Learning”! After putting on mini personal protective equipment, students were transformed into “little engineers”, carrying a cute version of a Tuen Ma Line train as they marched through the carriageways that are designated for vehicles on normal days. Under the bright sun, their high spirits echoed through the streets as they waved to residents gathered along the way as well as passengers in cars next to the parade route, creating a vibrant and joyful spectacle.

• Surprise Appearance of T-Chai in his New Engineering Uniform

Upon arrival at Tuen Mun Tin Hau Temple Plaza, the team met up with the special guest, MTR Ambassador “T-Chai”, who dressed in his new engineering uniform. He teamed up with the “little engineers” to perform a lively K-pop dance on the stage, while ardently interacted and took photos with local residents off the stage, sparing no effort in promoting the new railways.
